Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal data this demonstration website collects (almost none), and what a real Academy would collect and why.
Who we are
Academy Learning Ltd is a fictional company created for this demonstration website. In this notice "we" means that fictional company. A real organisation in its position would be the data controller for the personal data described below and would be registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. Academy is not registered, because it does not exist.
What this site collects
This site has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. It sets no cookies. The forms on the contact and login pages do not send or store anything: when you press the button, the page simply shows a message. Please do not type real personal data into them.
The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches them, Google receives your IP address and basic browser details, as with any web request. We do not receive or store that information. The site is hosted on a web server that may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested) for a short period for security.
What a real Academy would collect
If Academy were real, it would collect:
- your name, contact details and organisation when you join, book or make an enquiry
- your course progress, exam results and learning hours
- payment details, handled by a payment provider and never stored in full by us
- records of reasonable adjustments you ask for in exams, kept separately and with restricted access
Why, and on what lawful basis
We would use this data to provide membership, courses and exams (performance of a contract), to keep the accounts we must keep by law (legal obligation), to prevent exam fraud and keep systems secure (legitimate interests) and, only with your consent, to send newsletters. Information about adjustments relating to health would be handled as special category data, with your explicit consent.
Sharing
We would share data only with suppliers who help us run the service, such as hosting, email and payment providers, under written contracts. We would confirm a member's certificates to an employer only if the member chose to appear in the public directory or gave permission.
How long we keep it
Membership and course records for six years after your membership ends. Certificate records indefinitely, so that we can confirm a result if asked. Enquiries for two years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to move it to another provider and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights you would email hello@academy.junaid.guru. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
